Overview (English)
Anthropic's terminal-based coding agent. It runs in your shell, reads your repository, edits files and executes commands with your approval. Particularly strong on tasks that span many files or require running tests and iterating on failures, and it can be pointed at CI or scripted for repetitive maintenance work.
Our take (English)
The best terminal agent right now for serious work, with one caveat that matters.
Where it winsLong, multi-step tasks. Give it a failing test suite and it will investigate, patch, re-run and iterate — this loop is where it clearly outperforms chat-based tools. Permission prompts before commands run keep you in control.
The caveatIt requires a Pro subscription or above, so it is not a free entry point, and heavy use burns through limits fast. Token consumption on large repos is high.
VerdictWorth the subscription if you spend most of your day in a terminal and want an agent that can actually finish a task. For occasional use, the cost is hard to justify over an editor-based tool.
